Software Engineer – Shopify
Nashville (in office 4 days per week)
StagePilot is looking for an experienced software engineer with a strong interest in e-commerce to join our engineering team in Nashville. You’ll collaborate closely with our client-facing teams to build, customize, and optimize our e-commerce experiences. This role involves both Shopify theme development and backend integration using the Shopify API, as well as supporting React applications and building custom plugins that power the business.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain custom Shopify themes and CMS-managed content
- Collaborate with business and marketing teams to implement high-converting user experiences, with emphasis on accurately creating UI from design plans or modern UI trends
- Integrate with third-party platforms (e.g., TikTok Shop, Meta, Google Shopping) for product sync, order management, and marketing workflows
- Develop and support custom Shopify apps, plugins, and extensions using the Shopify Storefront and Admin APIs (GraphQL)
- Stay up to date with Shopify platform updates and e-commerce best practices
- Support and maintain existing React applications, assisting with bug fixes and feature development as needed
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience as a full stack engineer or e-commerce developer
- Solid understanding of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, React, and GraphQL
- Familiarity with databases and core backend principles
- Independent problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Detail oriented, collaborative mindset with the ability to adapt UI to specific business needs
- Support and maintain existing React applications, assisting with bug fixes and feature development as needed
Bonus Points
- Understanding of e-commerce CRO best practices and strategies
- Prior experience with Shopify Liquid theme development and performance optimization (SEO, speed, mobile)
- Experience integrating Shopify with marketing tools, payment gateways, or fulfillment APIs
- Experience with Shopify APIs, webhooks, and app/plugin development
